To new beginnings

I have been dreaming of this day for quite sometime. Quite consistently, all those dreams ended with me dropping them off at school and doing the janakaraj routine. On a slightly serious note, school is an emotional thing for me. Some of my fondest memories are from school, and I always look forward to living it once more through our boys.

Finally D Day arrives. Its rush hour morning and all of us scurry around. I am picking things they might need and stacking them in a corner, last minute, much to my sister's dismay. Its time, we say a virtual goodbye to appa and walk towards school.

We reach, and by the time I could hand over the "bag" and give the teacher a few instructions  (okay, just two, our toilet training status and the no-chocolate-no-nuts situation), Akshath had found the perfect camouflage! I couldn't spot him. Seconds later, I heard his voice (calling avyukth avyukth 😕) and the next instant, they held hands and took the stairs, walking into a newfound oblivion.

No tears. No goodbye kisses. No hugs. No cries for amma. No one had to pull us apart from an air tight, unbreakable embrace.

My eyes welled up slightly, as I met my dad's. He smiled.

Cheers for new beginnings.
